The Macallan shop-in-shop captures the essence of the brand’s heritage and craftsmanship
Edrington Global Travel Retail, The Macallan and China Duty Free Group (CDFG) have partnered in the opening of a shop-in-shop in Haitang Bay, in the cdf Sanya International Duty Free City (Building A).
Designed to bring The Macallan’s renowned whisky-making expertise to life, this immersive space offers visitors a multi-sensory journey that transports them to the heart of The Macallan Estate in Speyside, Scotland. The new concept store was created in collaboration with Jamie Fobert, the internationally acclaimed architect whose portfolio includes iconic designs such as Venice’s historic Fondaco dei Tedeschi and London’s National Portrait Gallery extension.

Every design detail of The Macallan Shop-in-Shop captures the essence of the brand’s natural heritage and craftsmanship. Visitors are welcomed by a wave wall design inspired by the rolling hills of The Macallan Distillery rooftop and a copper installation inspired by the distinctively small stills used in the whisky-making process. An Albariza stone wall behind the bar pays homage to the fertile soil of Jerez, Spain, the birthplace of the sherry that enriches The Macallan’s signature oak casks.
In line with The Macallan's deep respect for the natural world, the store also features the aromatic scent of wild herb infusions, which contribute to a holistic, nature-inspired experience. The environment speaks to The Macallan's commitment to sustainability and its harmonious relationship with nature.
Guests are invited to engage with the brand's ethos through a range of interactive experiences. The store’s design brings to life ‘The Six Pillars’ – the cornerstones of The Macallan’s whisky-making tradition – through a curated blend of visual, olfactory, tactile, and sampling elements. Visitors can explore the biodiversity of The Macallan's 485-acre Estate in Speyside, re-imagined in the store’s captivating natural features.
The Macallan shop-in-shop offers a comprehensive range of its single malt whiskies, including the travel exclusive Colour Collection, limited editions such as The Harmony Collection, and the soon-to-be-available TIME: SPACE Mastery.

Personalized whisky recommendations help each shopper discover their unique preferences. Custom gift-wrapping services, complete with gift bags, cards, envelopes, and ribbons, add a personal touch for those looking to commemorate special moments.
