Focus on sustainability: Coccinelle introduces the 'Coccinelle Roundabout & ACBC' collection

Coccinelle has revealed a new collection of sneakers in collaboration with ACBC, an Italian BCorp, and Circular Science Company leader in green B2B consultancy and responsible footwear production.

According to Coccinelle, the partnership marks an important step towards sustainability, with the ‘Coccinelle Roundabout & ACBC’ project “blending fashion and innovation in a journey of responsibility and awareness”.

The collection consists of three models of sneakers made with innovative and responsible materials. The first model, the C-CITY 365, is available in two versions – with and without eco-fur – providing a versatile and comfortable option for every season. The C-STYLE 70, with its retro appeal, harks back to the classic and charming lines of the past while the C-RUN 01 offers a modern take on the running shoe, blending functionality and style in a contemporary design suitable for all occasions.

The new sneakers are crafted with responsible and top-quality materials

The materials used for the footwear include rPET, made from post-consumer recycled PET bottles; FreeBio rPU by ACBC, a leather alternative made from recycled polyester, and fibers, and Rice Husk, derived from the recycling of pre-consumer rice husk waste. The sneakers feature 100% organic cotton laces and soles made from recycled materials with small flakes on the surface. The main upper is in FreeBio rPU, while the details are in rPET.

The global launch of the Coccinelle Roundabout & ACBC project is scheduled for August 26, 2024. Milan’s streets will tell the story of the collection through a special photoshoot, capturing the dynamic and cosmopolitan essence of both the city and the product.

Emanuele Mazziotta, Chief Operating Officer of Coccinelle, said, “For Coccinelle August 26, 2024, marks the beginning of a more conscious journey towards the use of responsible materials in the fashion industry. We are thrilled about this collaboration with ACBC, which enables us to create high-quality products that support women in their daily lives while evolving towards responsible innovation.”

Gio Giacobbe, CEO of ACBC, added, “It has been an honor to collaborate with the Coccinelle team at the beginning of their green journey. The new sneakers are crafted with responsible and top-quality materials.”
