Proximo Spirits has launched 1800® Triple Cask, a new añejo tequila available exclusively in global travel retail. The release marks the latest innovation from the brand’s founder Juan Francisco Beckmann, whose ambition was to rival the world’s finest whiskies and cognacs in elegance, depth, and character.”

The Triple Cask Series represents this founding vision through meticulous aging in oak casks sourced from renowned cooperage regions worldwide. “When agave meets oak, true alchemy unfolds,” the brand states, describing its marriage of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary techniques.

This inaugural edition undergoes maturation in three distinct barrel types: refined French oak, robust American oak and casks previously used for Cabernet Sauvignon wine. The combination produces what the brand describes as “a rich fusion of agave intensity and oak sophistication” featuring dark fruit depth, delicate vanilla and spice undertones in a smooth, multi-dimensional profile “crafted for those who see tequila not just as a spirit, but a story waiting to be savored.”

The añejo is aged in new French and American oak plus American oak Cabernet Sauvignon wine barrels, creating “a harmony between cooked agave with light notes of honey in the mouth.” Bottled at 40% ABV in 1-liter format, the expression joins the portfolio of what Proximo describes as the world’s most decorated tequila range, with 1800® having accumulated more accolades from global tequila authorities than any other brand family. Recent honors include recognition from IWSC and the World Tequila Awards.

Production begins with 100% blue agave hand-selected at peak maturity from the family’s Jalisco estate, where plants mature in mineral-dense volcanic soil at high altitude. Following 28 hours of steam cooking in traditional masonry ovens at 96°C and a six-hour resting period, the agave is milled to extract juice concentrated with sugars, aromatics and flavor compounds.

Fermentation spans approximately 40 hours as yeast converts sugars into the alcoholic and aromatic elements that define the spirit’s sensory character. Double distillation in copper stills proceeds at deliberately slow speeds, isolating only the heart cut to preserve the full spectrum of qualities developed during fermentation while achieving what the brand terms “extraordinary cleanliness in its sensory notes.”

Maturation combines American oak’s conventional refinement withFrench oak nuances and the distinctive contribution of Cabernet Sauvignon wine barrels, selected after extensive evaluation in the distillery’s reserve cellar to achieve “the perfect balance of an exceptional blend.”

The finished tequila presents as a bright copper liquid with golden highlights and a substantial, creamy texture. Aromas reveal pronounced wood and caramel notes contrasted by fruit elements including cherry and plum. The palate delivers “a harmony between sweetness and cooked agave, with light notes of honey.”

Proximo recommends serving neat or over ice.
