Nuxe keeps nature and sustainable development at the heart of its business values
The group aims to use 100% recyclable packaging by 2030

Since its creation in 1991, Nuxe has been paying particular attention to the natural origin of its products and the environmental impact of its product packaging. This commitment to responsible beauty lies at the heart of the group’s values, favoring natural-origin active ingredients and formulas, with controlled geographical origins obtained through green, non-polluting extraction methods.
In line with this commitment to responsible beauty Nuxe conducts extensive testing and searching to find alternative solutions to help the protection of nature. For example, today Nuxe no longer uses polyethylene or polypropylene micro-beads in its exfoliating or rinse-off products; these have been replaced with natural ingredients such as rice powder, bamboo powder, and apricot kernel powder. And Nuxe Sun sunscreens have been tested on the algae and bacteria representative of marine life to ensure they do not harm the marine environment. By 2025, around 90% of Nuxe’s ingredient portfolio will be traceable, with the ultimate aim of achieving 100% traceability.
Since the end of 2018, Nuxe’s research and development department has also defined highly demanding Ingredient and Formulation Charters to ensure all its partners comply with the commitments set out in its Ethical Charter for Responsible Purchasing and Partnerships, which includes a commitment to environmental protection. Most of its suppliers are also regularly assessed by the independent EcoVadis rating agency.
Nuxe also continues to focus on minimizing the other key environmental impact of its business, its product packaging, with an eco-design and continuous improvement approach for all its packaging. This includes reducing plastic use, increasing the share of recyclable packaging, integrating recycled materials, and promoting reuse. Ninety percent of Nuxe product packaging is also manufactured in Europe to help reduce the carbon impact of transport. Nuxe's target is the use of 100% recyclable packaging by 2030.
Every new Nuxe product development or renovation is another opportunity to further reduce its carbon footprint, and this is not a new policy for the group. As early as 1991, Huile Prodigieuse came in a glass bottle to reduce plastic usage, as does the now-iconic Rêve de Miel lip balm, which it launched packaged in a small glass jar. Every time it launches or relaunches a product, Nuxe reduces the packaging as much as possible, eliminating items such as plastic cello-wrapping and plastic shrink bands on the pumps of our products, and using slim caps for our tubes. Its latest TREX pouch provides a great example of this focus on sustainable packaging. The cardboard packaging is sourced responsibly, and the composition of the pouches includes interior lining made from 100% recycled cotton, exterior lining made from 100% recycled cotton gauze, and the finish held in place with non-woven 100% recycled polyester fabric.
Nuxe is not alone in its commitment to the natural origins of its products, and to responsible packaging, which have been core values from the beginning of its existence; it is also among the many other big corporations making the same changes for tomorrow, through its support and involvement with key associations such as TRASCE, EcoBeautyScore and Pulp In Action.
In 2023, NUXE co-founded the TRASCE Consortium (Traceability Alliance for Sustainable Cosmetics) alongside fourteen other cosmetic industry players, to collectively build traceability for the sector's supply chains and enhance their sustainability. Nuxe has also joined the EcoBeautyScore consortium to further assess and reduce the environmental impact of its formulas and is a member of the Pulp In Action consortium, which aims to work with other influential players in the cosmetics industry to develop new cellulose fibre-based materials as alternatives to plastic.
This commitment to delivering responsible beauty is not a passing fashion or a token gesture, it is a permanent focus on today and the long term, and therefore an ever present and permanent policy that lies at the heart our corporate values and the first priority that influences all our product decisions, from sourcing to formulation to packaging.
These words from Aliza Jabès, Founder and President of the Nuxe Group, sum up this commitment, “Today, more than ever, I am convinced that beauty and environmental challenges must go hand in hand. My vision is that we can bring daily joy through our skincare while making a positive impact on the planet.”
“The international distribution of our brand across all the major travel retail channels gives us an audience of tens of millions of international travelers who are highly discerning shoppers that increasingly demand brands with a genuine commitment to environmental responsibility. As a force for enhancing a positive corporate reputation, travel retail is a major platform for Nuxe to be seen and recognised as one of those brands,” says Fabienne Bravard, General Manager Nuxe International.
