Lagardère Travel Retail marks a major milestone in Asia with the official opening of its commercial operations in Cambodia

Lagardère Travel Retail has celebrated the official opening of its commercial operations at Techo International Airport, Cambodia’s new aviation gateway.

The retail and dining offer was inaugurated on October 20 in the presence of H.E. Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, senior government officials, and airport partners.

This opening introduces Lagardère Travel Retail’s full-service retail and dining offer to Techo International Airport, supporting Cambodia’s growing aviation and tourism sector while providing passengers with a high-quality, locally inspired retail and dining experience.

Techo International Airport is Cambodia’s largest aviation infrastructure project and one of the world’s biggest airports by land area. Located near Phnom Penh, it serves as a national and regional hub, with an initial capacity of 13 million passengers per year, set to expand to 30 million. Designed by Foster + Partners, the terminal blends Khmer-inspired aesthetics with modern sustainability features. Lagardère Travel Retail has tailored its store designs and retail concepts to complement the terminal and to reflect Cambodian culture and heritage, integrating local materials, patterns, and products throughout the passenger journey.

The duty-free offering comprises nine outlets, eight located in the departures area and one in arrivals

In partnership with HSC Group, Lagardère Travel Retail signed a long-term contract with Cambodia Airport Investment Company (CAIC) to manage the airport’s entire commercial offer across three business lines – Duty Free & Fashion, Travel Essentials, and Dining. This marks the first time the company operates all three lines in a new airport in Asia.

Over a total footprint of 3,629 square meters, Lagardère Travel Retail operates 17 stores and one restaurant, spread across landside and airside areas of the terminal:

• The duty-free offering comprises nine outlets, eight located in the departures area and one in arrivals.

• The Fashion portfolio includes two curated multi-brand concepts — The Gallery and Eye Love — alongside a dedicated APM Monaco boutique.

• In Dining, travelers can enjoy a refined experience at the airside Marché restaurant.

• The Travel Essentials segment, operated by franchise partner Monument Book, features 4 RELAY stores and a Discover Cambodia shop.

According to Lagardère Travel Retail, the portfolio blends international brands with Cambodian culture. Local names such as Bodia, Senteurs d’Angkor, Kambio Nature, and Seekers Spirits are featured alongside local delicacies like Kampot pepper, showcasing traditional craftsmanship and heritage. Store designs, layouts, and product selections are fully adapted to the terminal’s Khmer-inspired architecture, providing travelers with an authentic sense of place and a seamless integration of local culture and modern retail.

Stefan Picard, Chief Executive Officer of Lagardère Travel Retail Cambodia, commented, “Today’s opening is a proud moment for Cambodia and for Lagardère Travel Retail. Techo International Airport stands as a symbol of the country’s ambitions and growing presence on the regional tourism map. We are honored to be part of this project alongside our partners at HSC Group and CAIC. For our teams, this represents both a challenge and an opportunity — to create a commercial offer that truly reflects Cambodia’s culture and identity, while providing international standards of excellence.

“Together, we are committed to ensuring that this new gateway delivers an outstanding experience for every traveler.”

Frédéric Chevalier, CEO of Lagardère Travel Retail, added, “This inauguration marks a key milestone in Lagardère Travel Retail’s journey in Asia. Beyond the scale and ambition of Techo International Airport, this project demonstrates our ability to rise to the challenge to deliver comprehensive, multi-line operations, working hand in hand with local partners. Our presence here reflects our confidence in the long-term potential of Cambodia and Southeast Asia. It is also a tangible expression of our strategy to combine global expertise with local relevance — creating value for landlords, brands, and travelers alike.”

Pung Kheav Se, CAIC Chairman, said, "By welcoming Lagardère Travel Retail to Techo International Airport, we are combining French expertise and savoir-faire to enhance the airport retail experience and provide passengers with a welcoming service that reflects Cambodian hospitality.”
