Lagardère Travel Retail and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol enhance passenger experience with new Chocolate House at Lounge 1
Located within the recently opened 1,500-square-meter Today Duty Free in Lounge 1, the boutique offers an indulgent confectionery experience

Following the successful unveiling of the Today Duty Free concept earlier this year, Lagardère Travel Retail and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol continue to enhance the shopping experience with the opening of a new Chocolate House in Lounge 1, serving a high volume of travelers to Europe and beyond. Located within the recently opened 1,500-square-meter Today Duty Free in Lounge 1 – the airport’s largest retail store – the boutique offers an indulgent confectionery experience, combining international gourmet chocolates with a strong sense of place.
The shop is focused on premium chocolate and fine food, and features a Pierre Hermé counter offering hand-picked macarons and chocolates. A curated selection of premium brands is available, including Pierre Marcolini, Neuhaus, Leonidas, Lindt, Corné Port-Royal and Godiva, along with a Venchi Pick & Mix. The best of Dutch confectionery is also prominent through local favorites MADAQ, Visser Chocolate and De Bonte Koe, and a handmade chocolate windmill provides a striking centerpiece.
From day one, the store will be staffed by expertly trained personnel, who recently spent several days with the Pierre Hermé team in Paris to learn the art of macaron preparation. Excellence in customer service is at the heart of the Chocolate House concept, where all travelers will receive a high-quality, personalized retail experience.
Bruno Gouisset, CEO, Lagardère Travel Retail Netherlands, comments, “Following the successful takeover and the opening of Today Duty Free in Lounge 1, this new Chocolate House perfectly illustrates how our partnership with Amsterdam Airport Schiphol aims to deliver enhanced experiences for passengers. Every detail – from the hand-crafted Dutch windmill to the highly trained team – has been carefully designed to offer travelers a premium, culturally inspired retail journey.”
Arthur Reijnhart, Chief Commercial Officer, Royal Schiphol Group, adds, “We want every step through Lounge 1 to surprise and inspire, with attention to both international top brands and distinctive Dutch products. Chocolate House is a perfect example of this and shows how, together with our partners, we invest in quality and a unique experience at Schiphol.”
The Chocolate House will officially open in November, reinforcing Lagardère Travel Retail and Schiphol’s commitment to world-class, locally-inspired travel retail concepts.
