Happy Diwali from Dubai Duty Free

To mark the upcoming Diwali Festival, Dubai Duty Free has rolled out a series of special promotions including the chance to win one of ten Dubai Duty Free 40th Anniversary 10-gram gold bars.

The promotion, which runs from October 29 to November 2, is open to all departing passengers travelling through Dubai International and Al Maktoum International Airport ahead of the Festival of Lights.

For every spend of AED3,000 (US$817) or more in the gold shop, customers will have a chance to choose a golden ball, which when opened will reveal a Diwali greeting or a congratulatory message for winning a gold 10g bar. Two winners will be announced every day during the promotion period.

Dubai Duty Free will also run a Diwali Gold promotion offering an AED5 (US$1.4) per gram discount for every AED8,000 (US$2,178) spend on select gold items. The promotion will be split into three campaigns periods: October 11 to 13, October 18 to 20 and October 25 to November 1.

The Diwali promotions include opportunities to win substantial prizes

Adding more sparkle to the Diwali celebrations, there will be special discounts and offers on select perfume brands, confectionery and liquor products and some free gifts on select electronic items.

Commenting on the upcoming Diwali, Ramesh Cidambi, Dubai Duty Free Managing Director, said, “Indian travellers have always been pivotal to Dubai Duty Free’s success, accounting for 13-14% of our business and accounting for around 13% of passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport. With Diwali being the most significant festival for Indian nationals all over the world, it is a great opportunity for us to join in the celebrations and to mark this special occasion.”

Diwali themed areas are in place throughout the retail operation, featuring the most popular products, while Indian staff will dress in traditional attire to add to the authentic atmosphere.

Dubai Duty Free is also gearing up for a Diwali celebration on October 30, which will be attended by H.E. Satish Kumar Sivan, Indian Consul General to Dubai. His Excellency will join Ramesh Cidambi for a ceremonial lighting of Diwali lamps, a traditional Indian dance performance and cake cutting, which will be followed by the popular Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise draws.

Diwali - the Indian Festival of Lights, is celebrated every autumn in the northern hemisphere (spring in southern hemisphere). It is one of the most popular festivals of Hinduism, which symbolizes the spiritual ‘victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.’ It is also a period of gift giving to show love and affection to family members and friends.
