De Rigo has launched an exclusive Porsche Design eyewear collection commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911 Turbo. Introduced in September 2024, this limited-edition line celebrates the 1974 debut of the fastest road-approved sports car of its time, featuring a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine with 260 hp. The collection, a collaboration between Porsche Design and eyewear industry leader De Rigo, showcases two distinct sunglasses models: the Turbo No. 1 and the Turbonite.
The Turbo No. 1 sunglasses pay tribute to the first Porsche 911 Turbo, which was given to Louise Piëch, daughter of Ferdinand Porsche, as a birthday gift in 1974. Based on the classic Porsche Design P'8478, these unisex aviator-style sunglasses incorporate the car's original grey paint color and iconic red plaid interior pattern. Made of lightweight titanium, they feature an interchangeable lens system with VisionDrive Lens Technology™, offering silver mirrored lenses with a tartan pattern and alternative grey lenses.

The Turbonite sunglasses, a special edition of the P'8928 model, showcase a new metallic grey tone developed for the monochrome Porsche crest on Turbo vehicles. These unisex, squared aviator sunglasses are also crafted from lightweight titanium and include an interchangeable lens system with VisionDrive Lens Technology™. They come with an additional pair of green lenses.
Both models feature the Porsche Design lettering embossing, “turbo” lettering on the left temple and lens and are limited to 1974 pieces each, reflecting the year of the original Porsche 911 Turbo's reveal. The individual model number is engraved on the inside of the center bridge.
