Copenhagen Optimization partners with Brisbane International Airport to transform airport security operations
Copenhagen Optimization's Better Forecast and Better Security modules provide operational insight and efficiency to support Brisbane Airport’s long-term passenger growth plans

Copenhagen Optimization has partnered with Brisbane Airport to introduce two modules from its Better Airport software suite aimed at enhancing the airport’s security operations.
The “Better Forecast” and “Better Security” software provides a data-driven framework to strengthen the airport’s security operations with more accurate passenger forecasts, optimized resource planning and streamlined staff deployment, which gives operational teams a shared, data-driven foundation for decision-making. The tools are designed to improve predictability, support proactive management and keep passenger flows smooth across the terminal.
The deployment coincides with a major upgrade of Brisbane Airport’s security screening lanes. The airport has introduced CT Standard 3 technology, allowing passengers to leave laptops and aerosols in their bags. The upgrade is part of the Future BNE program, which aims to modernize facilities for 2030 and beyond.
“Brisbane Airport is taking a bold, future-focused approach to how security operations should run, and we’re incredibly proud that our Better Airport solutions are playing a central role in that transformation,” says Rasmus Kaster, Chief Growth Officer, Copenhagen Optimization. “This partnership is about enabling the airport to rethink its operational model end-to-end, bringing data, predictability, and agility into a part of the passenger journey that has a significant impact on both passenger experience and operating costs for the airport.”
“By combining Brisbane’s vision with our deep understanding of airport operations, we’re unlocking a new level of efficiency and passenger experience that will set a benchmark for the region. This expansion of our work together reflects a shared commitment to innovation and marks an important step in strengthening our presence in a key growth market,” continues Kaster.
“Security works best when we can align the number of passengers moving through the terminal with the right number of trained staff on duty. When we get that balance right, we hit the sweet spot where screening is efficient, queues remain low, and the passenger journey feels seamless,” says Ryan Both, Executive General Manager Aviation at Brisbane Airport. “Partnering with Copenhagen Optimization gives us the tools to achieve that balance, especially as passenger numbers at Brisbane Airport are forecast to grow from 25 million to 52 million over the next two decades.”
