This year Lotte Duty Free is celebrating the “Sportscation,” in which travelers participate in sports while on vacation. This trend is emerging as one that penetrates the MZ generation. The popularity of this type of vacation has increased significantly as more people took up outdoor sports during the pandemic. Lotte Duty Free's reports an increase greater than 40% in the sports category this year in Q2 vs Q1.To cater to these sports enthusiasts, Lotte Duty Free has launched easy-casual wear “Sporty & Rich” exclusively in the domestic duty-free industry.

Based in New York, Sporty & Rich was launched in 2016 by influencer and former Kith editor Emily Oberg. Since then, the clothing company has expanded its global reach to London, UK, Bangkok, Thailand and South Korea. The collection sold out immediately after its release in Korea.­­

Lotte Duty Free has set up a Sporty & Rich exclusive store in the tower building on the 8th floor of the Jamsil World Tower store, and plans to open an additional Sporty & Rich store in Busan in the second half of the year. On offer are sweatshirts, jogger pants, skirts, and ball caps for the 23SS season, in addition to a collection in collaboration with Lacoste.

On the 8th floor of the Lotte Duty Free Busan store, the operator has opened The Court & Kart compilation store, which offers sportswear items for golf and tennis. A total of 15 brands are available in the store, including golf wear brands such as TaylorMade and Mark & Rona, and tennis wear popular among young people in Korea such as Saturday Leisure Club, No More Bagel Score, Andenwe Dance and Lotsea.

An official from Lotte Duty Free stated: “Lotte Duty Free will continue to discover new brands tailored to the tastes of MZ generation customers and strengthen the fashion category. We also opened a dedicated Seoul Fashion Week pavilion in Ginza, Tokyo, Japan, in June, showcasing emerging brands such as Erkin, BielAlbler, and Azovaiajo, and is making efforts to strengthen the fashion category by attracting The Museum Visitor exclusively to Myeongdong Main Store in July.”
