The Glenglassaugh Distillery and Glenglassaugh 44-Year-Old

Situated on the hilltop overlooking the windswept shore of Sandend Bay since 1875, the Glenglassaugh Distillery embodies a rich history shaped by land and sea. The mineral-rich spring water, coastal warehouses, and sea air contribute to the creation of a ripe, lush spirit with a majestic and tropical coastal character. The reawakening of the distillery in 2008 revealed rare whiskies laid to rest for decades, forming the basis for the Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection.

Nurtured by Master Blender Rachel Barrie, Glenglassaugh 44-Year-Old is said to offer an exceptional sensory experience, “reflecting the interplay between nature and time, and showcasing the unique coastal character of Glenglassaugh”.

On the nose there are notes of salted caramel with blackcurrant, blood orange, and blueberry pastille, combining with cherry, almond with mandarin orange balsamic. The finish is pink grapefruit, star anise and nori and the color molten bronze.

The Glenglassaugh Sandend expression, which was launched in June last year, took the top spot in Whisky Advocate’s Top 20 Whiskies of the Year and was named ‘Whisky of the Year 2023’. It is regarded as one of the most coveted global accolades in the industry.
