Brockmans Gin has introduced the lightest bottle among major super premium gin brands globally, significantly reducing weight compared to competitors and underscoring its commitment to sustainability

Brockmans Gin has unveiled its new lightweight bottle, the lightest among top-selling super premium gin brands. Set to debut in September 2024, the bottle will be used for Original, Orange Kiss and Agave Cut varieties and showcased at TFWA World Exhibition on the JP-GTR stand (Green L60), alongside a new brand launch.

The innovative packaging, to be rolled out across all products and markets including global travel retail, uses lighter glass that is widely recyclable. This marks a significant step in reducing the brand’s environmental impact while maintaining its premium quality and distinctive character.

In an industry where packaging is crucial, Brockmans Gin has developed the lightest bottle among major super premium gin brands globally. The new bottle weighs considerably less than competitors, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to sustainability.

The lighter bottle aims to decrease CO2 emissions by reducing energy-intensive material usage and logistics, aligning with sustainability goals without compromising the luxurious feel and aesthetic consumers appreciate.

Key facts about the new bottle:

• Weighs only 500 grams, the lightest in its competitive set

• Contains 30% less glass than direct competitors on average

• Competitors’ bottles weigh 42% more on average

• Now contains 51% post-consumer recycled glass content (up from 0.6%)

Glass manufacturing is highly energy-intensive, and reducing bottle weight in the spirits industry is expected to significantly cut CO2 emissions in both production and transport.

Brockmans believes its new bottle will set an industry benchmark, reflecting its commitment to reducing environmental impact. This follows the brand’s B Corp certification in late 2023.

Jean-Dominique Andreu, Managing Director of Brockman Gin, said: “Our new bottle represents a significant step in our journey towards sustainability. We are proud to lead the industry with this innovative, lightweight packaging and we are committed to continuing our efforts to create a more sustainable future.”

In global travel retail, JP GTR exclusively represents the Brockmans portfolio. JP Aucher, founder of JP GTR, added: “Brockmans Gin continues to build a solid footprint in global travel retail through partnerships with key travel retailers including Gebr. Heinemann, Aer Rianta International, London Supply, and distributors such as DISC USA, PBG and Overseas Distribution Company. Creating a point of difference is hugely important and, balanced with the traveller’s increasing demand for sustainable and eco-friendly products, I’m confident that this new lighter bottle will be highly welcomed by both retailers and consumers, creating new opportunities to open new doors.”

Leading glass manufacturer Verallia designed the new bottle. Brockmans will continue refining the bottle’s specifications as the launch date approaches to ensure it meets the highest quality and sustainability standards.
