Avolta expands Nordic presence with extensive Oslo Airport F&B contract

By Wendy Morley

Avolta has secured a significant food and beverage contract at Oslo Airport, encompassing ten outlets across more than 2,600 square meters. The deal includes a seven-store package with a seven-year term and three additional outlets contracted for five years.

Digital innovation

The expansion emphasizes technology-driven ordering solutions, incorporating self-service 24-hour food walls and QR code ordering systems. A partnership with Klimato enables carbon footprint calculations for menu items, allowing travelers to make environmentally conscious dining choices.

"With a presence of more than 15 years at Oslo Airport, it is a privilege to contribute to the airport's F&B transformation with the award of this significant contract," says Walter Seib, CEO Northern, Central and Eastern Europe at Avolta.

Local meets international

The portfolio blends international brands with local concepts. New additions include Asia Street Cooking Ltd in both landside arrivals and international departures, while MEL - Norwegian Bakery brings traditional treats like skillingsboller and sourdough bread baked fresh throughout the day.

"We are pleased to further strengthen our longstanding partnership with Avolta AG through this significant contract. With over 15 years of presence at Oslo Airport, Avolta has consistently provided a high-quality dining experience for travelers. This new agreement will enhance the food and beverage offerings across the Domestic and International Terminals, catering to the diverse tastes of both Norwegian travelers and visitors to Norway," says Joachim Lupnaav Johnsen, Executive Vice President – Commercial Areas at Avinor.

Strategic rollout

The first outlet began operations in December 2024, with remaining locations scheduled to open in the first half of 2025. The expansion builds on Avolta's existing Nordic presence, which includes operations at Stavanger Airport featuring concepts like Sirkus Renaa by Michelin Star chef Sven Erik Renaa.

The development at Oslo Airport, which handled 25 million passengers in 2023, represents a strategic enhancement of Avolta's Northern European portfolio while advancing the company's technology and sustainability initiatives.
