Strategic partnerships with Bacha Coffee and Kavalan deliver travel retail exclusives as retailer targets returning Asian travelers

Lotte Duty Free is expanding its exclusive product portfolio through strategic brand partnerships, launching travel retail exclusive products with Singapore’s Bacha Coffee and Taiwan’s Kavalan whisky ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday period.

Global expansion

The retailer has developed an exclusive “Adventure Coffee Drip Bag Set” with Bacha Coffee, marking a significant expansion of its private label strategy. The collection will be available across Lotte’s domestic locations including the flagship Myeong-dong store and World Tower, as well as international outlets in Guam, Vietnam and the upcoming Tokyo Ginza location.

Bacha Coffee, inspired by Morocco’s historic Dar el Bacha palace established in 1910, brings a portfolio of over 200 Arabica coffee varieties across Asia, Middle East and Europe. Lotte’s involvement extended beyond traditional retail partnership, with the company participating in product development, naming and design of the 25-piece gift set.

Strategic partnerships

Building on a memorandum of understanding signed with King Car Group last year, Lotte has also introduced two exclusive Kavalan whisky expressions under the “Grand Reserve” series. The limited editions showcase the Taiwanese distillery’s wine cask expertise, with Grand Reserve No. 1 featuring rare Spanish Amontillado sherry casks and No. 2 combining Madeira and Port wine cask influences.

“We’ve prepared exclusive products with popular brands like Bacha Coffee and Kavalan for customers traveling during the Lunar New Year holiday period,” says a Lotte Duty Free representative, adding that the company plans to strengthen its product lineup through additional brand collaborations.

Customer incentives

Supporting the product launches, Lotte has introduced several customer promotions including currency exchange rate compensation offering up to 1.45 million won in LDF Pay credits on weekend purchases through February 2. The retailer is also running a tourism promotion with Batik Air, offering prizes including round-trip tickets to Kuala Lumpur.

The initiatives align with Lotte’s strategy to enhance its competitive position as Asian travel retail continues its post-pandemic recovery. The exclusive products will be available across key locations including the Myeong-dong flagship store, Gimpo Airport and Lotte’s online duty free platform.
