Lotte pioneers robotic cocktail service at Gimpo Airport

Lotte Duty Free introduced the first robot bartender at its Gimpo Airport liquor store
Lotte Duty Free is bringing AI-powered mixology to Korean travel retail with the launch of a robot bartender at its Gimpo Airport location, marking the first such installation in the country's duty free retailers.
The robotic bartender, developed in partnership with Doosan Robotics, analyzes customers' facial expressions to provide personalized drink recommendations. The concept builds on successful implementation at Singapore Changi Airport in 2023.

Customers purchasing select spirits like Hennessy and Glenfiddich receive tasting vouchers for the automated service, which operates in Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese. The technology represents Lotte's latest move to enhance its presence at Gimpo, where it secured the liquor, tobacco and miscellaneous (DF2) concession in March to complement its existing cosmetics, perfumes and miscellaneous (DF1) operations.
The newly opened liquor store showcases over 100 brands, with dedicated spaces for premium offerings including House of Suntory Japanese whiskies and a champagne section featuring prestige labels like Krug and Dom Pérignon. The comprehensive spirits selection includes major whisky brands such as Ballantine's, Johnnie Walker and Royal Salute, alongside tobacco products from KT&G and Philip Morris.
"We have prepared a wide range of products and enjoyable experiences to meet the diverse needs of our customers," says a Lotte Duty Free representative. "We will continue striving for customer satisfaction."
