HMSHost expands presence at Phoenix Sky Harbor with new 10-year contract

By Wendy Morley

HMSHost, a subsidiary of Avolta AG and a global leader in travel dining, has announced plans to introduce two new food and beverage experiences at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) under a recently awarded 10-year contract. The new venues, set to open in Summer 2025, will be located in the airport’s new Eighth Concourse in Terminal 4, expanding HMSHost’s footprint at PHX to nearly two dozen restaurants and bars.

The expansion will add almost 4,600 square feet (1,400 square meters) of dining space, featuring partnerships with celebrity chef Guy Fieri and Arizona’s largest independently owned brewery and distillery, SanTan Brewing Company. These additions aim to enhance the traveler experience with bold flavors and local flair.

Steve Johnson, President and CEO, North America, Avolta, expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “HMSHost is thrilled to be part of the roadmap for the future that’s been laid out at Phoenix Sky Harbor. Every thoughtful renovation and addition to the concourses has been designed with travelers at the core, just as our food and beverage options are curated to enhance and fuel their journey. We look forward to our continued partnership with Phoenix Sky Harbor and infusing the dining experience there with a fun, flavorful, and decidedly local feel.”

The two new dining destinations coming to Terminal 4’s Eighth Concourse are:

1. Guy Fieri’s Phoenix Kitchen and Bar: This venue will offer Fieri’s signature “Real Deal” scratch-made recipes, including award-winning burgers and championship BBQ. The full bar will feature “Off da Hook” handcrafted cocktails, local craft beers and Guy’s own Santo Tequila. The menu will highlight favorites from the Downtown Phoenix restaurant, such as Big Bite Burgers, Trash Can Nachos and the Mötley Qüe Pulled Pork sandwich, alongside convenient Grab & Go options.

2. SanTan Spirit House: A first-class brand unique to Arizona, SanTan Spirit House will showcase the products of SanTan Spirits, the distillery arm of SanTan Brewing. The bar will offer innovative cocktails crafted by award-winning mixologist Natasha Hill, along with SanTan’s spirits, tasting flights, beer and wine. The food menu will feature Roman-style flatbreads and other shareable bites.

Roxann Favors, Chief Revenue Officer at Phoenix Sky Harbor, commented on the partnership: “At Phoenix Sky Harbor, we continue to look for ways to elevate the passenger experience. Our continued partnership with HMSHost will give our travelers additional options. We are excited for HMSHost’s new concepts that will not only give travelers a taste of our award-winning local cuisine, but a chance to experience celebrity chef Guy Fieri’s renowned creations.”

HMSHost will operate the new dining venues in a joint venture with TMG Services, LLC and Kind Hospitality, Inc. The company currently manages over 20 restaurants, bars and Grab & Go dining options at PHX, including popular choices like Blanco Tacos + Tequila, SanTan Brewing Company, La Grande Orange and Shake Shack. In 2024, HMSHost introduced its AI-powered, self-checkout system, Snap, at PHX, which was recognized as a finalist for the “Airport ‘Food To Go’ Offer of the Year” at The Moodie Davitt Report’s Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Awards.

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, known as America’s Friendliest Airport®, generates an annual economic impact of over US$44 billion. On average, the airport handles more than 1,000 aircraft and 130,000 passengers daily. PHX Sky Harbor is funded entirely by airport revenue, without the use of tax dollars.
