Hudson expands presence at Salt Lake City International with new 8-year contract

By Wendy Morley

Hudson, part of Avolta, will grow its footprint at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) under a newly awarded eight-year contract to open three additional retail stores. The company will develop over 2,200 square feet (204.4 square meters) of retail space in Concourse B as part of Phase 4 of the airport’s US$5.1-billion redevelopment program to deliver “The New SLC.”

The new stores will include a travel convenience store and two specialty retail stores created exclusively for SLC, drawing inspiration from Utah’s unique attributes. These additions will expand Hudson’s current presence of over a dozen travel convenience and specialty retail shops at SLC, where it has operated since 2015.

Steve Johnson, President and CEO, North America, Avolta, commented: “These new retail offerings will complement the growing concessions program at Salt Lake City International Airport and provide travelers with more opportunities to enjoy their journey, whether they are flying to or through the airport. In partnership with SLC over the last decade, we have crafted our retail program to appeal to the airport’s diverse visitors, catering to locals, domestic passengers, and international travelers alike. We are proud to be a part of ‘The New SLC’ to help usher in the future of travel with an enhanced passenger experience.”

Hudson will operate the stores as a joint venture with two women-owned Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) partners, Albright International, Inc. and Tu Gals, LLC.

The new retail concepts coming to Concourse B include:

Art of Aesthetics by Dr. Mark Taylor: The first airport location of this concept will offer travelers personalized beauty experiences, including VISIA skin analysis and curated skincare and hair care products.

Dr. Mark B. Taylor, Founder and Medical Director of the Gateway Aesthetic Institute and Laser Center in Salt Lake City, said: “I am so excited to be able to offer safe convenient treatments to busy travelers who are often pressed for time to schedule appointments in the clinic. These treatments, along with professional-grade beauty products, will help travelers of all ages look their best for whomever they are meeting or wherever they are going.”

Utah National Parks: This specialty retail store will showcase products highlighting Utah’s top national parks, in partnership with the National Park Foundation.
