Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail has announced the opening of Auckland Airport’s first ever wine and spirits shop-in-shop, in partnership with Lagardère AWPL.

The 62 square meter space features Pernod Ricard’s new signature modular design in the prime location of Auckland Airport’s departures area, signaling a new chapter for long-term partners Pernod Ricard and Lagardère AWPL in enhancing the travel retail shopping experience in Auckland.

Initially launching with Jameson, the boutique features interchangeable furniture, enabling the wines and spirits group to display multiple brands from its esteemed portfolio. Plans are underway to transition the space to Malfy Gin and Chivas Blended Scotch Whisky within the next 12 months.

The new permanent space adheres to Pernod Ricard’s rigorous sustainability principles, with eco-friendly build materials and inks locally sourced from New Zealand.

The arrival of Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail’s first modular shop-in-shop located within the Pacific region marks a significant milestone for the company and underlines its commitment to retail excellence as well as its pioneering spirit.

To celebrate the new retail space Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail, Lagardère AWPL and Auckland Airport hosted a lively opening ceremony – in true Jameson style – including a complimentary Irish Coffee cart and dedicated brand consultants on hand to conduct tastings. Customers were also offered a custom-made Jameson tote bag as a gift with purchase, only available within the dedicated space.

Becky Holliday, Travel Retail Director Pernod Ricard Pacific, commented, “This space truly embodies the partnership we have with Lagardère AWPL; from idea conception to installation, we have worked hand in hand with them and Auckland Airport to bring this modular space to life. Thank you to both partners for committing to the vision of full modularity, and we hope it pays off in a uniquely engaging experience for travelers. We are excited to continuously evolve the boutique, to surprise and delight our shoppers in Auckland.”

Costa Kouros, Chief Executive Officer Lagardère AWPL Travel Retail Pacific, added, “Our partnership with Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail has been integral to the realization of this modular boutique in Auckland.
