Lagardère Travel Retail and Lima Airport Partners (LAP) have joined forces to introduce an extensive F&B offering at the new Lima Airport terminal.

This development promises a reimagined culinary journey, featuring a blend of local and international brands, as well as top names in Peruvian gastronomy. Just two years after taking its first steps in Peru with the opening of Duty Free stores, Lagardère Travel Retail has been chosen by LAP to manage 11 F&B outlets, covering an impressive 3,300sq m of commercial space. This proposal has also given rise to a food hall concept under the name of ‘Nación Sazón’, translating to The Land of Flavors which captures the essence of Peru’s vibrant gastronomic heritage.

With this, Lima Airport and Lagardère Travel Retail achieve the goal to bring Peruvian gastronomy to the passengers by inviting them to embark on a unique gastronomic experience, offering an authentic taste of local cuisine.

The restaurants are scheduled to open in 2025, aligning with the opening of Lima Airport’s new terminal

To leverage Peru’s recent culinary recognition on the international stage, Lagardère Travel Retail’s team in Latin America has forged partnerships with renowned chefs such as Mitsuharu Tsumaru, chef of Maido, ranked 6th in the ‘50 Best World Restaurants’ list, and Jaime Pesaque, chef of Mayta, ranked 47th in the ‘50 Best World Restaurants’ list.

The concepts featured in this collaboration include:

  • Mitsuharu Tsumura: A specially crafted concept for the airport, inspired by the Japanese cuisine, along with his BBQ Chicken chain, Tori.
  • Jaime Pesaque: Brings a taste of Callao, a neighborhood known for its fishing port, to the airport.
  • Jose del Castillo: Presenting ‘Las Reyes’, a sister concept to the famous Lima downtown restaurant Isolina, focusing on Creole cuisine.
  • Javier Miyasato: The creative mind behind ‘Burger Boy’, the winner of Peru’s Best Burger award.
  • KO: An innovative Asian fusion concept from the renowned Peruvian gastronomic group MCK, blending flavors from various countries across the continent.
  • La Lucha: A rising star in the Peruvian sandwich culture.
  • Pan Sal Aire: Crafted by Chef Jeronimo Aliagas, this concept revolves around sourdough-
  • based bakery, including bread, pizza, and pastries.
  • Puku Puku: A socially and environmentally responsible Peruvian coffee brand that unites local coffee producers in a common cause.

In addition to these external partnerships, the team will also be introducing its global, award-winning internal concepts such as ‘Natoo’ - a grab-and-go concept - and ‘So Coffee’ - a coffee concept. The offer will be complemented with localized proprietary concepts such as ‘Wok to Gate’, a Peruvian ‘chifa’ cuisine concept, influenced by the early 20th-century Chinese community in Peru.

To best embody this Peruvian culinary journey up to the store design, Lagardère Travel Retail’s team in Latin America have worked with experienced architects and designers from both the airport and culinary worlds, including Altavia Group (Foodhall), Peruvian firms Arquitekturas and 51-1, and Grunwald from Chile.

The grand opening of these restaurants is scheduled for 2025, aligning with the opening of Lima Airport’s new terminal.

Cyril Letocart, CEO Lagardère Travel Retail Peru said, “This new contract with Lima Airport Partners confirms our willingness to invest in Peru and in the region. Together with LAP and the most famous Peruvian chefs, we want to create the best culinary experience in an airport in the region. Our aim is to transform Lima Airport into a gastronomic hub: travelers passing through Lima Airport will have the opportunity to discover, or to enjoy one last time, the flavors of this wonderful country”.

Norbert Onkelbach, Chief Commercial Officer at Lima Airport Partners added, “We are delighted to announce the signing of this significant agreement with Lagardère Travel Retail, marking a pivotal moment for Lima Airport. Food and Beverage is integral part of the retail strategy of Lima Airport Partners for the new terminal incorporating peruvian food in the experience of our passengers.

“Our visitors can immerse themselves in a delightful Peruvian environment and enjoy an outstanding culinary offering. With a shared vision with Lagardère, we aim to cultivate and enhance the travel retail concept, drawing upon the exceptional international expertise of our partner.”

In addition to its Foodservice, Lagardère Travel Retail will operate four duty free and duty-paid shops in the new terminal, covering a total surface of 4,000sq m. One key objective for these new shops will be to further develop Peruvian brands and culture thanks to an immersive design and a large assortment of local brands.
