SSP Group's new Chief People Officer, Ann-marie Murphy

SSP Group, a leading operator of restaurants, bars, cafes and other food and beverage outlets in travel locations across 36 countries, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ann-marie Murphy as Chief People Officer. She will take up her role early next year.

Murphy joins from The Gym Group plc, a fast-growing UK gym operator, where she is Chief Operations Officer. She joined The Gym Group in 2018, in the role of Director of People and Development and later as Chief People Officer, where she set up the company’s people function, designing and delivering strategies for talent, L&D, performance, inclusion and reward.

Prior to The Gym Group, Murphy was Group Human Resources Director at New Look Retailers, where she established the Global HR function. She worked for nearly 13 years at Tui Travel plc, holding a variety of senior HR roles, with a remit covering the UK, North America, France, Spain and Australia.

Commenting on the appointment, Patrick Coveney, Chief Executive of SSP, said, “I am delighted to welcome Ann-marie into the SSP family. With her extensive sector and international experience and track record of developing and implementing people strategies, she will prove a great addition to both our Group executive and people leadership teams. We have an exciting people and cultural agenda ahead, and I am confident that Ann-marie has the experience, leadership skills and personality to support, shape and drive that journey.”

“With more than 40,000 colleagues across 36 countries around the world, it’s clear to me that people are at the heart of SSP’s business. I’m delighted to be joining such a well-regarded global business and management team at this exciting time in the company’s onward journey,” Murphy commented.
