Egyptian and UAE aviation authorities recently held strategic talks to enhance bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors. The discussions, led by Egypt's Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El-Hefny and UAE delegation heads Mohammed Abdullah Al-Salami and Mohammed Abdulla Lengawi, focused on developing air navigation capabilities and airport infrastructure.

The meeting highlighted opportunities for knowledge exchange through Dubai's air navigation training center, aligning with Egypt's broader aviation strategy. The partnership comes as Egypt implements an ambitious expansion plan to increase airport capacity to 72.2 million passengers annually by 2025, up from 66.27 million in 2023.

The UAE delegation, with Al-Salami serving as Chairman of the Fujairah Department of Civil Aviation and Deputy Chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority, explored collaborative projects that could benefit both nations' aviation sectors. Key infrastructure developments under discussion included the expansion of Alexandria's Borg El Arab Airport from 1.2 million to 6 million passengers and enhancements to El Alamein Airport's capacity.

This initiative reflects Egypt's comprehensive aviation strategy, which includes optimizing airspace utilization through regional Flight Information Region integration with neighboring countries including South Sudan, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. The country is also expanding its African connectivity, currently serving 26 destinations across 21 African countries with plans to reach 32 airports in 30 African countries by 2028.

The collaboration between Egypt and UAE mirrors growing trends of Middle Eastern aviation hubs strengthening their interconnections and sharing expertise. Both nations see strategic value in combined efforts to enhance regional air transport infrastructure and operational capabilities.
