Saudi Arabia to advance ambitious aviation expansion strategy in Davos

With exquisite design, six parallel runways and 100% sustainability as just the beginning, Saudi Arabia's King Salman International Airport will be a groundbreaking marvel that transforms 57 square kilometers of desert into the world's largest airport, poised to handle 185 million passengers annually by 2050
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia is setting the stage for a transformative leap in its aviation sector, with plans to showcase investment opportunities exceeding US$100 billion at Saudi House during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos.
The investment framework spans multiple aviation segments, with airports commanding the largest share at more than US$50 billion. New aircraft orders represent approximately $40 billion of the total investment opportunity while US$10 billion is allocated to ancillary projects, including $5 billion dedicated to special logistics areas around the major airports in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.

"Saudi Arabia is presenting aviation investment opportunities that are unmatched globally, as the Saudi Aviation Strategy triples passenger numbers, connects to more than 250 destinations and handles 330 million passengers and 4.5 million tons of cargo," says Mohammed Alkhuraisi, GACA Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Intelligence.
Infrastructure development
Central to this expansion is the development of King Salman International Airport in Riyadh, designed to be one of the world's largest airports with six runways. The investment showcase will also highlight public private partnership opportunities for international airports in Abha, Taif, Hail and Qassim, alongside developments in cargo, logistics, Advanced Air Mobility and business aviation.

The Saudi House initiative, orchestrated by the Saudi Ministry of Economy and Planning, serves as a strategic platform for presenting these opportunities. The showcase will feature panel discussions with key stakeholders including Saudi Arabian Assistant Minister of Investment Dr Abdullah Aldubaikhi, along with leaders from Archer Aviation, Jeddah Airport and the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Saudi Arabia.
