Alpha Kreol India welcomes first biofuel-shipped container at Cochin Airport Duty Free

Alpha Kreol India, a joint venture between Avolta and the Kreol Group, has proudly announced the arrival of the first container shipped using biofuel at Cochin Airport Duty Free, a milestone which marks a "significant step toward sustainability in global logistics".

Avolta and DB Schenker, the global shipping company, have entered a pioneering agreement to utilize biofuel for shipping routes from Europe to select locations, including Cochin, India. This initiative aligns with Avolta, Alpha Kreol and Cochin Duty-Free’s commitment to reducing carbon footprints and promoting greener alternatives in the supply chain. Alpha Kreol has been managing Cochin Airport’s duty-free operations since 2002. Cochin Airport's facilities stand as a beacon of sustainability, setting a global precedent by utilizing 100% solar energy for all its operations.

Kinjal Pande, CEO, DB Schenker India, said, "We are proud to collaborate with Avolta on this groundbreaking initiative. This is a significant milestone towards sustainable logistics, leveraging waste-based marine biofuels to reduce emissions and set a new standard for low-emission transport solutions in India.”
