L’Oréal Travel Retail announces key Asia Pacific executive change
L’Oréal Travel Retail has announced a major executive change at the helm of its Asia Pacific operations, with Jesus Abia taking on the role of L’Oréal Travel Retail Asia Pacific Managing Director from Tao Zhang as of July 1.
Joining L’Oréal Groupe in 2000, Zhang has enjoyed a rich career that started in China before moving to executive positions in Lancôme and YSL Beauty in Paris. Zhang joined L’Oréal Travel Retail APAC in 2016 initially as General Manager for Lancôme then as Luxe General Manager. She was appointed Managing Director in mid-2021, successfully navigating through the unprecedented pandemic with “with outstanding resilience and agility”.
Zhang is described by L’Oréal as “a leader with courage, strategic vision, unwavering commitment to drive change and a true believer of diversity and inclusion”. She will assume another role in the company to be announced at a later date.
Abia joined L’Oréal Groupe 14 years ago in Spain before joining L’Oréal Travel Retail teams first in the Americas as an Area Manager, then in Asia Pacific as Marketing Director. In 2019, he returned to his home country Spain as General Manager for YSL Beauty and Biotherm. He is currently the General Manager Europe for the Luxe couture Brands: Prada, Mugler, Valentino, Viktor&Rolf.
Abia is recognized for his powerful strategic vision and acute business mindset as well as his entrepreneurial spirit and his inspiring modern leadership style. “All these qualities and his strong knowledge of the travel retail eco system will play a key role to keep strengthening the co-development of L’Oréal brands in the Asia Pacific region,” L’Oréal Travel Retail said.
