José Luis Donagaray, Secretary General, ASUTIL (Asociación Sudamericana de Tiendas Libres), gave a press conference in Cannes, France today announcing the return of the ASUTIL Conference which will be held Wednesday June 7 to Thursday June 8, 2023 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The South American duty free association has not hosted the annual conference since 2017. It was last hosted in Argentina in 2005.

"It's a pleasure to launch our conference, to go back to our region," Luis Donagaray says. "For us, it's very, very good."

There will be networking through the day, an opening cocktail, a lineup of keynote speakers (that have not yet been revealed) and a celebratory party to close the event. And, m1nd-set will be involved with ASUTIL to share insights about shoppers in the region.

"Having Argentina as the place we will do it is very important to us. It is surpassing 2019 [numbers] already," says Gustavo Fagundes, ASUTIL President, calling this a sign of recovery.

"A few words on behalf of TFWA. We are delighted to help put the conference together next year," says Erik Juul-Mortensen, adding that he remembers fondly the successes of the 2005 conference in Buenos Aires.

The Association will also hold its Encuentro Border Shops (EBS) regional border stores conference on November 8 to 10 in Uruguay at the Hyatt Centric Hotel Montevideo.
