WiTR organizes charity event in Cannes in support of The Hope Foundation

By GTR Magazine Staff

This year, Women in Travel Retail (WiTR) will return to its usual venue in the foyer of the Palais des Festivals on Tuesday, October 4 (17:30 –19:00), with a slightly different focus.

Upon arrival, attending ladies will be welcomed with a glass of delicious Chandon Garden Spritz courtesy of Moet Hennessy, to start off what promises to be an enjoyable networking session. Attendees will also learn about and raise funds for WiTR’s 2022 charity, The Hope Foundation.

Since 1999, The Hope Foundation has been committed to ensuring the protection of children living on the streets and in the poverty-stricken regions of Kolkata, India. WiTR is raising funds to buy a bus to safely transport women and children from HOPE’s five homes in the city, which house 100 children and a Mother and Childcare unit. Costing approximately €15,000, the bus will replace the vehicle currently in use, which is 15 years-old and fails to comply with government regulations.

“This year, instead of the past raffle format, participants will be invited to contribute €20 and a business card to be entered into a draw for three prizes, which will take place around 18:30.

"Please note that WiTR is a small charity and cannot accept online payments, only cash. We look forward to seeing you all at the event and hope that we can make a significant impact with your donations,” says Sarah Branquinho, Chair, Women in Travel Retail.
