MEADFA elects Abdeslam Agzoul as new President, Chichi Maponya named Vice President

MEADFA welcomes Abdeslam Agzoul as its new President

The Middle East & Africa Duty Free Association (MEADFA) has elected its new President and Vice President.

This follows the resignation of Rob Marriot from his role as CEO of Aer Rianta International Middle East and, subsequently, from his position as MEADFA President in accordance with the Association’s statutes.

Rob Marriot served as MEADFA President since March 2025, having previously held the roles of Vice-President and Chair of the Advocacy Committee. The Board extends its appreciation Marriot for his leadership and service and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.

Rob Marriot, outgoing President of MEADFA, commented, “I remain deeply appreciative of the trust placed in me by my fellow Board members. It has been a privilege to serve alongside such dedicated professionals, and to contribute to the development of our industry in the Middle East and Africa.”


Nuno Amaral joins the MEADFA Board and is Chair of the association's Advocacy Committee

The Association welcomes Nuno Amaral, CEO ARI-Middle East and Global Chief Operations Officer, to the MEADFA Board. A respected industry leader with deep regional experience, Amaral has been appointed as Chair of the MEADFA Advocacy Committee.

At the MEADFA Board Meeting held on June 10 2025, the Board elected as Abdeslam Agzoul as President, and leading the Association through its next chapter. Agzoul brings over 20 years of experience in travel food & beverage and retail. He is currently CEO Middle East and Africa at Avolta.

“I step into this role with a deep sense of commitment to our industry and this region and thank the MEADFA Board for their trust,” he said. “MEADFA has a unique opportunity to grow stronger, more inclusive, and more strategic in its purpose. Together with the Board and our members, I look forward to reinforcing our advocacy, expanding our membership, driving transformative impact across ESG priorities and delivering long-term value for all stakeholders.”


Chichi Maponya is the new MEADFA Vice President

Joining him in the leadership team is Chichi Maponya, who has been elected Vice President. She previously served on the Advocacy Committee and brings a strong commitment to regional representation, stakeholder collaboration, and inclusive growth.

“This role is both an honor and a responsibility I take on with great dedication. I am committed to advancing diversity, innovation, and cohesion within MEADFA,” she said. “Our region is rich in talent and opportunity, and I believe MEADFA must continue to reflect this diversity while fostering stronger cross-market collaboration. I look forward to supporting the President and the Board in delivering on MEADFA’s strategic vision.”

According to MEADFA, the newly elected leadership team is well-positioned to build on the association’s strong foundations. The Board expresses its full confidence in their ability to represent the Association’s interests and drive its goals forward with clarity, purpose, and unity.
