By Wendy Morley

The Frontier Duty Free Association (FDFA) has revealed its finalists for the 2024 Gold Standard Awards, set to be presented at their annual convention from November 18-21 at Toronto’s Omni King Edward Hotel. The awards ceremony will take place during a gala event on November 20, 2024.

“The 2024 finalists were selected by a panel of industry experts,” said FDFA Executive Director, Barbara Barrett. “This year’s FDFA Convention will celebrate ‘40 Years of Growing Together,’ marking four decades of success and collaboration within Canada’s duty free industry. Over the past 40 years, we’ve strengthened Canada’s leadership in the global duty free market, driving economic growth and supporting tourism across the country.”

The awards program, which has been running for over 20 years, features 13 categories celebrating excellence among FDFA member stores, owners, employees and suppliers. This year introduces a new category called “Trailblazing Women of Influence” to recognize outstanding female contributors to the industry.

“We extend our gratitude to the sponsors who have made this year’s awards possible,” said Barrett. “We look forward to celebrating the finalists and engaging with industry leaders at the convention in Toronto.”

The finalists span various categories including Outstanding Duty Free Employee of the Year, Best New or Relaunched Brand across multiple sectors, Best Marketing/Merchandising Award, Supplier of the Year in different categories, Platinum Awards and Rising Star of the Year.
