Duty free industry strengthens anti-illicit trade initiative
The Duty Free World Council (DFWC) and Tax Free World Association (TFWA) campaign against illicit trade has gained additional support from leading global retailers. Everrich Duty Free, International Shoppes, Attenza and Duty Free Partners have recently endorsed the campaign’s objectives, committing to prevent illicit trade within the duty free and travel retail industry.
The duty free sector is known for its highly transparent, trusted and secure supply chain. This declaration reassures millions of customers that products purchased in duty- and tax-free stores are authentic and genuine. By signing the declaration, companies publicly commit to prohibiting all forms of illicit trade, counterfeiting and intellectual property theft, and to hold their business partners to the same standard.
DFWC President Sarah Branquinho stated, “The Council and TFWA jointly launched the anti-illicit trade declaration twelve months ago. Since then, many of the leading industry retailers have pledged their support for the declaration and to uphold its principles. We are delighted to see that support continues to grow and welcome Everrich Duty Free, International Shoppes, Attenza, and Duty Free Partners to the list of supporting retailers. This is a long-term industry initiative, and we welcome the support of other travel retail operators and suppliers who wish to be a part of the declaration, and we continue to encourage them to join us.”
The initiative, launched on September 18, 2024, is an ongoing effort to maintain the integrity of the duty free and travel retail industry.
