FDFA convention registration opens

By Wendy Morley

The Frontier Duty Free Association (FDFA) has announced that registration for their 2024 annual convention is now open. This year's convention, themed "Celebrating 40 Years of Growing Together," will be held from November 18-21, 2024, at the Omni King Edward Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the association's founding. The event aims to encourage both current and prospective members to collaborate and continue the growth and success of the duty free industry, which has flourished for over four decades.

“Our goal this year, as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the association, is to focus on thriving and building our industry," said FDFA Executive Director, Barbara Barrett. “Our theme, 'Growing Together,' reflects our commitment to positioning Canada as a global leader in the duty free sector and highlighting the industry's integral role in the expanding tourism sector in Canada.”

The FDFA convention is recognized as the leading event for duty free professionals in Canada, providing a unique platform for partners to stimulate business growth by connecting with buyers from duty free shops nationwide. The event promotes industry growth through product launches and increased brand visibility. Members also enjoy unparalleled networking opportunities, fostering valuable relationships within the industry and contributing to its collective success.

The convention is expected to attract up to 100 buyers from duty free stores across Canada. The three-day event includes individual business meetings and social networking events each evening. The Opening Cocktail will kick off the convention on November 18th, followed by the Gala and Awards on November 20th, where the winners of the Gold Standards Awards program will be announced.

“We are excited to be back at the Omni King Edward Hotel this year, as its private spaces perfectly meet our requirements for meetings and networking,” said Barrett. “We will continue to offer presentations for buyer groups and are planning to feature a dedicated Trade Floor once more, giving suppliers an outstanding platform to showcase their unique products at the convention.”

Registration is open to all FDFA members, with early bird registration ending on September 6, 2024. More information on registration can be found on the FDFA website.
