APTRA India ready for delegates

The APTRA team is in Delhi preparing for the first-ever APTRA India Conference from March 19 to 21. More than 250 attendees are expected, coming from around the globe, with additional sponsors now supporting the event.

• Gulf Beverages and African+Eastern have come on board as the event’s Prestige Partner and will host the lunch on March 21

• Campari Group will bookend the conference with networking events on March 19 and 21

• Voiceback Analytics has signed on as Data Partner, organizing networking breakfasts on March 20 and 21

“The networking afternoons hosted by Campari Group on March 19 and 21, featuring Aperol Spritz, are anticipated to be crowd-pleasers. We’re thrilled to have Voiceback Analytics on board as Data Partner, responsible for the breakfast networking sessions on March 20 and 21.

“Our appreciation extends to DFNI for their Media partnership and Kapila Ireland for serving as our lead moderator. Aligned with APTRA’s non-profit nature, I’m happy to announce that all profits from the conference will be directed towards initiatives supporting the Asian Pacific industry over the next year.”

Conference details

The conference will span two days, opening with remarks from Manisha Saxena, the Director General of Tourism for the Government of India, followed by in-depth discussions and presentations on Aviation, the latest airport developments, consumer insights, the retailer’s viewpoint and category-specific focus sessions.

Keynote addresses will include insights from Ramesh Cidambi on the influence of Indian travelers at Dubai Duty Free; Vijay Talwar of Avolta will discuss ‘Embracing Innovation and Embracing India’ in his first presentation to the Travel Retail Industry. Jaya Singh, Managing Director of Mondelez World Travel Retail, will explore the premiumization opportunity for confectionery, while Nicola Wells, Global Head of Category Development at Nestle, will discuss “Food Reimagined…unlocking the growth potential of food for India GTR.”

Latest updates on India’s airport developments will be shared by Prasant Gaurav Gupta, CCO of Noida International Airport, and Pravat Paikray, VP Commercial at Bengaluru Airport. Attendees will have already experienced the award-winning shopper experience at Delhi Duty Free Services, with CEO Ashish Chopra discussing how the business continues to upscale and expand. ARI CEO Ray Hernan will update on the significance of Indian travelers to the company’s global operations.

The conference on Indian aviation growth features a panel with executives from DIAL/GMR, ACI Asia Pacific, The Design Solution, Adani Group, and Bengaluru Airport discussing the sector's rapid expansion. A specialist panel on Indian Travel Retail's alcohol importance includes leaders from Spiritz Magazine, Whyte & Mackay, Pernod Ricard, The House of Somrus, Bacardi, and Diageo, highlighting travel retail dynamics.

Panel discussions

The “Beauty Unboxed” panel will illuminate the Indian beauty industry's evolution. Representatives from L’Oréal, Forest Essentials and Colorbar Cosmetics will explore the surge of local luxury wellness and color cosmetics brands, both domestically and abroad.

The session “1.4bn Perspectives” will provide insights into the diverse Indian consumer base, with experts from McKinsey & Co, Beam Suntory, Mastercard and Voiceback Analytics discussing the implications for travel-related sectors.

Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues in Travel Retail will be addressed by ARI, Lagardère MEA, Bacardi, Enviro-Point and Nestle International Travel Retail, examining the industry's progress and future direction in sustainability.

“India Rising – Perspectives from the Indian Diaspora in Travel Retail” will offer a dialogue with Indian-born, internationally based Travel Retail leaders from Dubai Duty Free, Heinemann, Beam Suntory, Pernod Ricard, Mondelez and Avolta.

Finally, the conference will delve into the premiumization of Travel Retail in India, with a panel of experts from Mumbai Travel Retail, Delhi Duty Free Services, Avolta, Flemingo and CocoCart discussing factors that contribute to industry excellence.

Registrations for delegates are open, with a fee of US$600 per person. The conference will take place at the Pullman Hotel Aerocity, conveniently located near Delhi International Airport. Special room rates are available for attendees.
