The Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA) has announced that Manisha Saxena, the Government of India’s Director General of Tourism, will present a keynote address at the APTRA India Conference on the morning of Wednesday, March 20.
The APTRA India Conference will take place in Delhi on 20-21 March.
Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, has pledged that India’s efforts in the tourism sector center on preserving its rich heritage while creating a world-class infrastructure for tourism. Saxena’s presentation will share more details on how that vision is being realized.
According to Invest India, the government’s national Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency, the Indian tourism sector ranks among the fastest-growing economic sectors in the country. The industry significantly impacts employment and drives regional development, while also creating a multiplier effect on the performance of related industries. By 2028, India’s tourism and hospitality industry is projected to generate revenue of over US$59 billion bn and 140 million jobs in tourism through inclusive growth and particularly focusing on cruise tourism, ecotourism and adventure tourism. Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) are anticipated to reach 30.5million by 2028.
Sunil Tuli, President of APTRA and Group Chief Executive Officer King Power Group (Hong Kong), said, “We are absolutely thrilled to have the support for the APTRA India conference from the Director General of Tourism, Government of India. Ms Saxena is a highly respected official and her presentation will set the context for the exceptional opportunity for travel retail in India itself in tandem with the surge in outbound tourists.”
