WiTR+ hosts charity evening at Jewel Changi Airport in Singapore

By GTR Magazine Staff

Women in Travel Retail (WiTR+) held a charity event in Singapore at Jewel Changi Airport on August 2, which was the first event to be held in Singapore since 2019. The beneficiary of the event was the Koma Karanth Foundation in the Philippines.

The event was hosted by Chandra Mahtani, representative for Regional South East Asia in the WiTR+ Steering Committee. About 80 guests from numerous companies attended the event, which featured interactive talks, a charity auction, a lucky draw for donors, and food and drinks.

The event was made possible by generous sponsorships from numerous companies for the venue, prizes, gifts, dinner and drinks. These included Airport Pharmacy Group, Chanel Beauty, Changi Airport Group, Charles & Keith, Dior Beauty, Eu Yan Sang, Essilor Luxottica, Estee Lauder Companies, FNA Group International, Garrett Popcorn Shops, Gebr. Heinemann, Harilela Hospitality, Hugo Boss, iStudio, Jewel Changi Airport, King Power Group, Lacoste, Lagardère Travel Retail Singapore, Natureland, OSC, The Shilla Duty Free, Sprint-Cass, SSP and Treasury Wines Estates.

Chanel Beauty gave an interactive talk on “Beauty & Wellness,” where guests participated along with the speaker in hands-on demonstrations of Chanel’s beauty regime steps. Changi Airport Group’s Design Management team provided the guests with an insightful and educational talk on “Art & Wellness,” highlighting the artwork and life experiences of influential female artists whose artworks were featured in Changi Airport.

Guests were treated to a dinner buffet sponsored by SSP and wines sponsored by Treasury Wines Estate. Harilela Hospitality was the sponsor of the banquet seating. Dinner was followed by a flash auction that featured 22 items sponsored by numerous companies. These included an Apple MacBook Air, beauty items, designer fashion accessories, sunglasses, electronics items and sports accessories.

To close off the night, guests were also invited to make donations to the Koma Karanth Foundation and were invited to participate in a lucky draw, which featured 40 prizes contributed by generous sponsors. Each guest also took home a bag of door gifts featuring beauty, fashion, food and health products.

The event was a tremendous success with generous donations and funds received, with all net proceeds going to the Koma Karanth Foundation.
