ASUTIL highlights speakers ahead of EBS Uruguay conference

The South American duty free association, ASUTIL (Asociación Sudamericana de Tiendas Libres), is highlighting the agenda and speakers for its upcoming Encuentro Border Shops (EBS) conference on November 8 to 10 in Montevideo, Uruguay.

With the theme ‘The Border Today,’ the agenda discussions include Customs: The system of numbers; Uruguay: Ministry of Economy; The regional economy: Present and future; Parliament and the border; Tourism of purchasing and more, featuring expert panelists in regional economy, current legislation and logistics.

Some of the speakers include Frederic Antunes, State Deputy – Progressive/RS, Carlos Loaiza Keel; Secretery General – Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Free Shops of Uruguay; Charles Melconian, Vice President, Macroview S.A.; John Labraga, Director of Commercial policy of the Ministry of Ecnomy and Finance; Marne Osorio Lima, National Representative; Jaime Borgiani, National Director of Customs; and ASUTIL Secretary General José Luis Donagaray.

In an interview with Global Travel Retail Magazine (GTRM), Donagaray says that based on the sharing and analyzing of figures, the conference will cover changes made in the Brazilian law and the move to harmonize duty free allowances across the region.

Attendees can expect to receive relevant and updated political and economic news as well, including from Melconian who will once again provide a general view of the regional economy and political aspects and changes affecting the current market, from an Argentinian economist’s perspective.

The event takes off with an opening address on Tuesday November 8 followed by the welcome cocktail event and two full days of a stacked conference agenda.
