2023 Summit of the Americas scheduled for April 18-21
The International Association of Airport and Duty Free Stores (IAADFS) is pleased to announce the dates of the 2023 Summit of the Americas, which will be held April 18-21, 2023, at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The 2023 Summit follows a different day pattern than in previous years, with the Opening Reception on Tuesday, April 18, and with the exhibit booths and private rooms open to attendees on Wednesday through Friday, April 19-21. The announcement of the 2023 Summit dates comes on the heels of a successful 2022 Summit, the first in-person IAADFS event since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We were pleased with the results of the 2022 Summit,” commented IAADFS Board Chairman Rene Riedi, adding, “We’ve received good feedback about the 2022 event, both in-person and through surveys conducted with attendees and exhibitors, and we’re looking forward to building on this success for 2023.”
More than 800 representatives from the duty free and travel retail industry attended the 2022 Summit of the Americas in West Palm Beach, Florida, with IAADFS having intentionally scaled back the size of the event taking into consideration the impact that COVID-19 has had on the industry.
“Although 2022 attendance was obviously less than pre-pandemic levels, attendees and exhibitors alike commented favorably about the event – about the quality of attendees, the quality of exhibitors, and how prepared buyer attendees were to conduct business,” commented IAADFS President and CEO Michael Payne. He further added, “While we went with a different format for 2022 for exhibits, survey feedback shows that attendees and exhibitors are looking forward to a return to a more conventional exhibit hall layout for 2023, so we’ll be working on that plan for next year.”
The space request process for the 2023 Summit is anticipated to begin in August or September 2022, with registration and housing to open soon thereafter. Although the 2023 Summit may be returning to a more conventional format for exhibits, IAADFS still intends to continue providing some level of content sessions as well as multiple opportunities for valuable networking time. IAADFS will provide regular updates about the 2023 Summit to past attendees and exhibitors and through the industry trade press.
