PHX launches Culture Corner to mark 90th anniversary milestone

Experts have been suggesting using airport space for different occupations such as learning; Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has announced that it's doing just that
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has introduced a new cultural engagement space in Terminal 3, marking the beginning of its 90th anniversary celebrations since the City of Phoenix acquired the facility in 1935.
Located post-security near Gate F3, the Culture Corner will host monthly programs including live art demonstrations, craft activities, displays and readings, all offered free to travelers. The initiative aims to showcase Arizona's cultural diversity and artistic heritage to the airport's growing passenger base.
The space debuts with a demonstration by the Phoenix Sister Cities Taipei Committee on January 17, featuring calligraphy, paper folding crafts and children's hat making. The venue will also incorporate the airport's existing Traveling Tunes program.
"Arizona is as diverse as its people and visitors, and the Culture Corner is the perfect way to illustrate that," says Deputy Aviation Director for Public Relations Heather Shelbrack. "We are home to many hidden gems and world-renowned artists, and I can't wait for our visitors and guests to learn more about them and take part in their activities."
The airport, which has evolved from its early nickname of "The Farm" to become one of America's busiest aviation hubs, is planning additional 90th anniversary activities throughout 2024.
