By Wendy Morley

Etihad Airways closed out 2024 with robust December traffic figures, carrying 1.7 million passengers during the month – a 22% increase compared to December 2023. The airline also reported an improved load factor of 87%, up from 84% in the same period last year.

“December was our busiest month of the year, in the traditionally active holiday season, and we carried 1.7 million passengers, a 22 percent rise on the same month of 2023,” says Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways.

The strong December performance contributed to an impressive annual total of more than 18 million passengers in 2024, maintaining an 87% load factor throughout the year. This represents an 80% increase in total passenger numbers compared to 2022, highlighting the carrier’s significant growth trajectory over the past two years.

The airline’s network expansion continued in December with the resumption of service to Nairobi, Kenya, with additional new destinations planned for the coming months.
