Heathrow Airport reports strong performance as pax starts to return to pre-pandemic levels

Over 5.2 million passengers traveled through the airport during the month of February

Welcoming more than 90,000 passengers, London Heathrow Airport reported February 26, 2023, as the busiest single day in Terminal 5 since Christmas 2019.

Over 5.2 million passengers traveled through the airport during the month of February. Dubai, New York and Madrid were listed as top holiday destinations.

The press release also noted that overall passenger satisfaction is close to pre-pandemic levels and the focus is on maintaining this as demand increases in the months leading up to summer.

Departures punctuality was the most consistent it has been in the last 12 months and over 98% of passengers were through security under 10 minutes for the second month in a row. With the lifting of restrictions, the East Asian market is said to be growing fast. Last month, the region experienced eight times as many passengers as February 2022.

“The February half term went very smoothly, thanks to a great plan and teamwork across the airport. This should give everyone confidence that we are prepared for a successful Easter getaway,” said John Holland-Kaye, CEO, Heathrow Airport.
