Helsinki Airport adds more stores to retail offering

By Jane Hobson

New offerings include Duty Free Shop, Marimekko, Lindroos and Balmuir

Helsinki Airport’s gate area has been getting an overhaul over the past few months. After security control, passengers are now served by several new Finnish and international shops, cafés and kiosks. All passengers can buy products in Helsinki Airport’s shops. The overhaul of the gate area is part of Finavia’s extensive development program at Helsinki Airport, according to a news release.

The Duty Free shop, which opened in December 2022, is located right in the middle of the gate area and offers air passengers a selection of Finnish and international brands. In the gate area 27–30, passengers are served by a revamped shopping concourse, which includes fashion and clothing shops Balmuir, Marimekko, and AERA Woman and Man, as well as the popular airport kiosks WHSmith and R-kioski. An Iittala shop will also open soon. In addition, Lindroos, which sells jewellery and watches, opened a beautiful shop on the shopping concourse, and Collection opened a new sunglasses shop in front of Duty Free.

Helsinki Airport’s newest café, Kaffet, serves passengers in front of Duty Free and the Aspire Lounge, offering a view of the runway. The café’s buns and snacks are made in its own bakery at the airport. Café Refuel, on the other hand, serves passengers in the new area that opened about a year ago, at gates 34–36. In addition, Finavia is building a food court at Helsinki Airport, which will open in the spring of 2023. With the addition of six restaurants, the customer capacity of the gate area will increase by about 400.
