Kansai Airports Group is actively pushing cashless payment services at Kansai International Airport, Osaka International Airport and Kobe Airport

Kansai Airports Group (KAG) has introduced four new cashless payment options at Kansai International Airport (KIX), Osaka International Airport (ITAMI) and Kobe Airport (KOBE) to improve customer convenience.

The new payment options are WeChat Pay, UnionPay QR, UnionPay mobile QuickPass, and JCB Contactless; they bring the total number of payment options available at the three airports to 20.

KAG explained in a press release that the new payment options will bring multiple benefits to the airports. Firstly, it will ease the crowded cash registers problem that plagued the three airports which serve close to 50 million passengers yearly. Secondly, it will provide airport passengers with a stress-free shopping environment. Thirdly, it will unify payment terminals across the airports, making payment processes more user-friendly.

KAG said the airports are planning to implement cashless transaction promotions such as campaigns with the payment service brands in the future.

WeChat Pay, UnionPay QuickPass and JCB Contactless are currently available at all three airports, while UnionPay QR will be available around the end of June this year.
