Highlighting the best in Spain: Osborne targets Asia Pacific market

Spanish wine, spirits and gourmet food specialist Osborne has its sights set on expansion in the Asia Pacific market.

Gearing up to next month’s TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition in Singapore (Basement2, G19) Osborne believes it has the products to match the needs of consumers in the region.

With a focus on the best that Spain can offer, Osborne has an extensive portfolio and will spotlight five brands it considers well suited to the Asian markets: Ham Cinco Jotas, Gin Nordés and Gin Gold, Carlos I brandies and Montecillo Wines.

The Montecillo offer includes the travel retail-exclusive Montecillo Albariño, D.O. Rias Baixas and part of an Osborne project to feature the best wines from the most popular appellations in Spain outside of Rioja.

Viña Monty Wines, Caviar Riofrio, Ron Burla Negra, and Osborne Port will also be highlighted on the Osborne stand, along with Nordés Vermouth White and Red which are new to the regional market.

Osborne Group Global Travel Retail Manager Cathy Rolland said: “Osborne is known as the ambassador of Spanish gastronomy, and we are more than ready to share that status with current and future retailing partners in the Asia Pacific market.”

She pointed out that Osborne is a relative newcomer to travel retail in Asia, cementing strategic partnerships with Lotte Duty Free, Shinsegae Duty Free, The Shilla Duty Free and JTO Duty Free last year.

“We see the Asia Pacific market as one full of opportunities for growth and the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition offers the ideal location to outline our regional strategy and to highlight the brands we know will suit discerning consumers,” Rolland said.

She underlined Osborne’s heritage, with 250 years of experience in the artisanal production of food and drink products that “offer the ultimate in authenticity and prestige”. Founded in 1772, Osborne is one of the oldest family businesses in Europe, a family saga and a business project that continue to be guided by a vision: to consolidate itself as an international benchmark for Spanish gastronomy.

“We offer Spanish gastronomy with a sustainable outlook and, of course, there is nothing more sustainable than a family,” Rolland added.

Rolland noted the strength of Osborne brands on the domestic market in China. “China is already our number one international market for the Cinco Jotas Iberian ham brand, and there’s clearly a big opportunity to elevate its presence in Asian airports and across the broader travel retail channel in Asia.”

Osborne’s Nordés gin claims the top spot for premium gins in China. “This speaks volumes about how well it resonates with local consumers. Its distinctive Galician character and refreshing taste profile make it stand out in a very competitive category. We see continued growth opportunities, both in domestic markets and especially in travel retail not just in China but across the entire Asia Pacific region,” Rolland said.

“In addition, we also offer a complete range of wines under our Montecillo and Viña Monty brands, as well as a portfolio of brandies with our Carlos I range. These heritage brands have strong storytelling potential and fit perfectly with the growing demand for premium, authentic, and experience-driven products.”

Osborne also owns the legendary Osborne Bull, an icon of Spanish culture, which is currently featuring in Spain’s Madrid and Jerez airports with Avolta this year. The new-look Osborne Bull will of course be a feature of the company’s presentation at the Singapore event.

Ham Cinco Jotas

With a “pure genius” tagline, Cinco Jotas is regarded as an icon of gourmet luxury. This 100% acorn-fed Iberian ham is the benchmark of excellence in its category, requiring up to five years of personalized care by master artisans.

Gin Nordés

Nordés is described as “Galicia in a bottle”, offering a real experience for the senses. It boasts a herbal aroma and flavor which are fresh, subtle and well balanced, with notes of white fruit; a premium gin which is a breath of fresh air, a brand which is revolutionizing the world of gin as we know it.

Gin Gold

Montecillo

Bodegas Montecillo’s legacy dates back to 1870, making it the third winery to be established in Rioja and the first in Fuenmayor.

Montecillo has kept the tradition of making wines that express the true spirit of Rioja alive. Its Montecillo Gran Reserva reflects the finest Riojan traditions with a focus on elegance and classicism. This extraordinarily complex and expressive wine brims with different nuances. Aged for at least two years in French oak barrels and more than 40 months in the bottle, the wine is subtle and silky, with polished, velvety tannins and notes of resin and candied fruit.

Carlos I

The alchemy of time and the best grape spirits have resulted in this unique brandy, known and recognized internationally for its aromatic complexity and exceptional quality.

Viña Monty

Viña Monty Graciano is set to hit the Singapore spotlight, a minority red variety which is gaining popularity thanks to its good acidity and resistance to drought. It’s a perfect example of the potential ageing of a single-variety Graciano in Rioja and was awarded in 2024 by Decanter as ‘Best in Show’, with 97 points, placing it among the 50 best wines of the more than 18,000 that participated. Viña Monty Graciano was the only Rioja wine on the list and the first ever 100% Graciano to get this award.
