The Lakes Distillery is enhancing its portfolio with the introduction of Boundless, a global travel retail exclusive for USA duty free. This addition strengthens The Lakes’ existing partnership with MONARQ Group, which already covers domestic and travel retail channels in the Caribbean and Latin America.
The home of the ‘World’s Best Single Malt Whisky’, The Lakes Distillery sits on the north shore of Bassenthwaite Lake in the English Lake District National Park.
Specializing in sherry wood maturation and employing the technique of élevage, The Lakes' encourages the exploration of new and exceptional flavors through their whisky.
Having swiftly earned a reputation for bold, complex, and multi-layered single malt whiskies, they are the ideal match for MONARQ Group’s mission to bring innovative and exciting new concepts and producers to its markets.

Sarah Burgess, The Lakes’ Whisky Maker, commented, “For the first time at The Lakes, we have handpicked only the finest first-fill oloroso casks to guide this whisky's maturation. Rich and full-bodied, think baked fruits, plums, and indulgent walnuts.
“While classically our whisky is influenced by a variety of sherry-seasoned casks, for this travel retail exclusive we remained steadfast in our devo9on to oloroso – the backbone of The Lakes Single Malt.
“Using the élevage technique, we purposefully designed the whisky’s flavor profile. With European and American oak to influence and elevate flavors, we have created a complex and bold single malt that encourages you to embrace your sense of wonder.
“With nuances of orange oil and dried fruits from European oak elegantly layered with delicate wood spice, toasted oak, and subtle notes of vanilla flowing from American oak, Boundless shares our ambition to push boundaries and we are excited to be working hand-in- hand with MONARQ to bring this special whisky to the American travel retail market.”
The Lakes' Boundless will be available from September 29.
