Philip Morris International opens new IQOS shop at Narita Airport
The 20-square-meter shop improves brand recognition as IQOS is clearly visible with premium signage and dedicated product wall
Philip Morris International (PMI) has opened a 20-square-meter IQOS shop at Narita International Airport. The new store showcases IQOS design language including its latest digital innovations designed to deliver an enhanced legal age consumer experience.
The shop improves brand recognition as IQOS is clearly visible with premium signage and a dedicated product wall. It also features the latest generation of IQOS gondolas and provides both physical and digital interactions with our products and an improved payment journey with additional cashiers.
The IQOS shop provides new consumer experiences such as:
- IQOS discovery area where IQOS products are on display for legal age consumers to interact and engage with the physical products with impactful visual merchandising
- IQOS interactive station works with RFID to allow 3D product visualization, comparison, configuration and shop assistance. The IQOS interactive station blends the physical and digital experience bringing the physical products to life in 3D to aid product education and easy comparison
- The TEREA (IQOS Smart Core™ sticks) flavor advisor is a new digital experience helping legal age consumers to find the flavor that best suits their needs, compare flavors and, also allowing them to save flavors to their favorites to assist with product purchase
- PMI's iconic Discover IQOS kiosk remains an important interactive and educational digital tool to learn more about IQOS and the benefits of switching to better alternatives to smoking
The IQOS shop is located on the third floor of the main building of Terminal 2 located after Departures.

As of December 31, 2023, PMI's smoke-free products were available for sale in 84 markets and PMI estimates that approximately 33 million adults around the world use PMI's smoke-free products. Smoke-free products accounted for approximately 37% of PMI’s total full-year 2023 net revenues.
The company has stated its ambition to be present in 100 markets with its smoke-free products by 2025. PMI’s ambition is that by 2025 at least 40 million PMI cigarette smokers who would otherwise continue to smoke will have switched to smoke-free products. Its goal is for smoke-free products to account for more than two-thirds of our total net revenues by 2030.

The IQOS ILUMA i series offers three devices in Japan: IQOS ILUMA i PRIME, IQOS ILUMA i and IQOS ILUMA i ONE. All three devices bring a range of adaptable new features. It already delivers an experience that is clean, seamless, and pleasurable thanks to PMI’s bladeless SMARTCORE INDUCTION SYSTEM™ in a variety of designs to meet the diverse preferences of consumers. IQOS ILUMA i PRIME and IQOS ILUMA i ONE are available in Japan duty free locations.
The new touch screen on the device’s holder allows users to see experience-relevant information quickly and easily. To personalize the experience, IQOS ILUMA i introduces a new Pause Mode. By swiping up or down on the touch screen, users can pause and resume their smoke-free moment where they left off, without worrying about wasting a stick. Additionally, FlexPuff allows users to enjoy the experience at their pace.
The new IQOS ILUMA additionally includes smart features like FlexBattery that help prolong the lifespan of the holder's battery, contributing to electronic waste reduction, as part of our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our products. Furthermore, the door for IQOS ILUMA i is made from aluminum produced with renewable energy and the inner textile layer of IQOS ILUMA i’s PRIME leatherlike wrap is made of 100% recycled plastic.
