Benriach 50 Years Old is said to represent the epitome of luxury and sophistication in single malt Scotch whisky

Brown-Forman Global Travel Retail (GTR) has announced the launch of Benriach 50 Years Old, the oldest-ever expression of Benriach, at the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition in Singapore.

Crafted with meticulous care and attention, Benriach 50 Years Old is said to represent the epitome of luxury and sophistication in single malt Scotch whisky. Showcasing Benriach at its most complex, just 37 (estimated) bottles of this exceptional expression will be available worldwide. Five of these coveted bottles will be reserved exclusively for the GTR channel.

Stéphane Morizet, Marketing Director GTR Brown-Forman, said, “We are thrilled to offer five of the just 37 bottles of Benriach 50 Years Old to our valued GTR partners. It is the finest portrayal of Benriach's signature fruit-laden style, with unrivaled complexity and luxurious refinement. The GTR allocation underscores the importance of this market to Brown-Forman and highlights our commitment to delivering exceptional luxury editions to travelers.”

The Benriach Distillery can lay claim to some of the richest, most inventive, and multi-layered whiskies in Speyside. The ability to nurture flavor has been informed by the Distillery's heritage in maturing an array of casks from across the world: casks of all different types, sizes, and ages, holding classic unpeated, peated, and triple distilled Benriach spirit. Each cask is treated as an individual on its journey towards maturation. Over many decades, this has granted an expert understanding of what makes the exceptional cask. For many years now, this expertise has been in the hands of Master Blender Dr. Rachel Barrie.

Dr. Barrie tastes and noses hundreds of different casks each year, to determine how each should be developed. A small collection of casks with exceptional character have been kept to mature to an old age, passed on a journey from one generation of whisky makers to the next and Bourbon cask 2383 has been one such cask. Filled with unpeated Benriach spirit on September 21,1966, it was destined to become the oldest remaining vintage and rarest ever example of Benriach. Now released after decades of maturation in Benriach’s Speyside warehouses, it is the first Benriach to be bottled at fifty years old.

Benriach 1966 Cask Aged 50 Years (ABV 44,5%) is presented in a bespoke crystal decanter, made in Scotland by Glasstorm. Each decanter is presented in a presentation box made by master craftsman John Galvin. With a recommended retail price of £25,000 (approximately US$31,406), it embodies the pinnacle of luxury and exclusivity in Scotch whisky.

Benriach 1966 has a rouge chestnut gold color with notes of oak leading with chestnut, maraschino cherry, and gentle acacia honey, interwoven with seductive truffle, narcissus, and refined musk. On the palate, honeyed dates and delicate oak spices, in harmony with the lingering finesse of apple, pear, and traces of grapefruit.
