Diageo Global Travel is searching for the World's Best Cruise Line bartender

Diageo Global Travel is set to launch its quest to find the World’s Best Cruise Line Bartender, on World Bartender Day, February 24.

Twenty bartenders will bring their cocktail marking craft and spirit knowledge to the fore in a festival designed to throw a spotlight on the mixologist talent on board some of the World’s finest cruise liners.

The festival will take place on seven cruise ships currently sailing around the world. Running across March and April, The World Class Cruise Cocktail Festival – a new concept from the Diageo Global Travel Cruise team – will bring together the brightest, most creative and ambitious individuals in the bartender community serving travellers of all varieties on board the many and varied floating palaces.

This will also act as the precursor to the well-known World Class bartender competition which happens later in the year, and which will put cruise mixologists against the best from dry land.

Every year, thousands of bartenders enter the World Class competition. With representation from over 50 countries, the world of global travel ensures that bartenders on the high seas who are pushing the creative boundaries in their craft are included. This year, 20 bartenders across seven cruise lines will compete having been through the initial trials of competition to take part.

The World Class Cruise Cocktail Festival will be hosted across the following cruise liners: Virgin Voyages, Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean and Oceana.

Luis Ortega from Norwegian Cruise Lines, said, “London, Berlin, Mexico, Sidney, and Sao Paolo. Five World Class Finals and counting, attending World Class is an indispensable investment in both knowledge and connections. It's the event I simply don't want to miss, where every sip of insight fuels my industry expertise, and every conversation pours new opportunities. A recipe for staying ahead and refreshed in the ever-evolving beverage landscape.”

Geoff Speiran from Diageo Global Travel Cruise, added, “We are so excited to be hosting this festival, demonstrating to the world how seriously cocktail making, innovation and on-board bar experiences are in the world of cruise. There are famous bars in cities the world over – but we feel the bars at sea and their custodians are as deserving of attention. We hope this festival will provide a platform for that and a wonderful learning experience for all those involved.”

The World Class Cruise team will then narrow the competitors down to ten who will go on to the World Class Cruise Finals that will be held in Miami on June 4. The winner will then compete in the World Class Global Finals in Shanghai in September.
