Pernod Ricard GTR named top W&S supplier in Advantage Group study

By Laura Shirk

Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail (PR GTR) has been ranked joint number one in the wines & spirits category in a core benchmark report, and joint third across four core duty free categories, by leading management consultancy firm Advantage Group International.

Pernod Ricard GTR has maintained the number one ranking in the wine & spirits category – vs. the core benchmark set of suppliers – since 2019. In 2020 and 2021, the program did not run due to the pandemic.

Through qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, the Advantage Report, comprehensively measures business-to-business engagement and aims to guide suppliers and retailers to find new and improved ways of working together that will ultimately lead to greater commercial success.

It was noted that the company performed well across a range of metrics, but strongest on elements associated with partnership (relation and success in building advocacy with brand consultants); reputation (suitability and fit as a long-term business partner) and vision (ability to identify opportunity and thrive in an ever-changing environment).

In the reputational ranking, PR GTR climbed five positions compared to 2022, largely thanks to ‘capability and experience and cross-functional alignment’. Other highlights for Pernod Ricard included placing #1 in Customer Service and #2 in collaborative forecasting within the W&S category.

Antonio Duva, General Manager Travel Retail EMEA, Pacific and Global Customers at Pernod Ricard said, “This is a vitally important result for Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail as it more than fairly reflects the fantastic relationships we have with our retailers, the value we place on these strong alliances and our contribution to grow the business together.

“Clarity of purpose, long term strategy and consistent transparency have been the important ingredients of this recipe. Our people and our wide portfolio of brands that resonate with all the different shoppers globally, comprise the rest.”

Duva also highlighted that this position had been maintained during buoyant, but also challenging trading periods in recent years, “We have maintained the number one position in wine and spirits over several years; pre-COVID, during COVID and post-COVID, providing evidence of our continued support in good times and in bad.

“Customers know that they can rely on us, and the commitment is maintained year after year with a consistent management approach.”
