Several of Coty’s prestige beauty brands, including Gucci Beauty, Gucci Fragrances, Burberry Beauty, and Chloé fragrances, have unveiled new boutique stores following the recent opening of Block C at the CDFG Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex in Hainan.

The openings are said to further bolster the shopping complex’s position as the world’s first standalone retail destination dedicated solely to high-end beauty and fragrances.

Gucci Beauty’s boutique store in Block C spans nearly 100sq m on the second floor of the building, making it the brand’s largest beauty flagship store in Hainan. During the Chinese New Year holiday period, the store captivated visitors with a range of in-store activities and floral-trolley activations. Featured products include Gucci Flora, The Alchemist’s Garden, and Gucci Makeup in the Gucci Beauty boutique.

The Burberry Boutique offers visitors an immersive shopping experience

Adjacent to Gucci Beauty, the Burberry Beauty boutique offers a curated selection of best-selling items and signature Prestige fragrance collections. It is the third Burberry beauty flagship store globally, providing visitors with an immersive and luxurious shopping experience that further embodies the Burberry fashion house’s ethos and aesthetic. Since the soft opening of the flagship store, the Burberry Goddess fragrance has seen a 40% year-on-year increase in sales.

Chloé’s inaugural stand-alone beauty boutique in Hainan is situated within the fragrance section on the third floor of block C, anchored by a French-style ‘Art of the Bouquet’ design concept. During the Chinese New Year holiday period, the boutique unveiled a series of limited-edition gift sets.

The boutique openings are part of Coty’s overarching expansion strategy in Hainan’s burgeoning travel retail market. Coty continues to strengthen its presence in the market through a variety of strategic initiatives, including new boutiques, engaging events and activations, as well as partnerships with key duty-free retailers. Alongside Gucci, Burberry, and Chloé, other prestige Coty fragrance brands, such as Hugo Boss, Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, as well as premium skincare brand Lancaster, have also established boutiques within Block C.

Lancaster, located on the ground floor, offers its exclusive Cellular Youth Recovery Treatment to CDF VIPs through a branded spa room in Hainan’s first multi-brand Spa Center. Additionally, Hugo Boss’s fragrance boutique is the brand’s only brick-and-mortar store in the Chinese duty free retail channel, attracting large numbers of influencers and key opinion leaders who have been eager to share their experiences across various social media platforms.

Since the opening of Block C in late 2023, Coty said its brands have “consistently exceeded expectations”. With an optimistic outlook for the year ahead, its prestige fragrance and skincare brands are set to introduce a host of exclusive offline activities to the CDFG Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex. These include a Burberry Goddess campaign this month (March) to commemorate International Women’s Day, and a pop-up event in spring focused on the Gucci Bloom fragrance. Consumers can look forward to a series of new initiatives throughout the year, as Coty and its brands “continue to elevate consumer experiences in Hainan’s thriving travel retail market”.
